Does your proposal need an additional approval? Does your department, college, or center require additional approvals not automatically created in the RASS Workflow & History panel?
For example:
- Indirect Cost Rate (IDC) less than Cornell’s approved rates
- Budget Review
- PI Eligibility
Who can add a Review Requirement? As PI/Co-PI or Department RA with edit access to proposal records, you can now add a Review Requirement, assign it to the person responsible for the approval, and RASS will add the requirement to the Workflow & History requirements table. In addition, RASS will also create a task for that person and send them an email!
To add a requirement in RASS
- Create a Sponsored Project Proposal or open an existing Proposal.
- Navigate to the Workflow & History panel.
- Click on the Add Requirement A modal displays to create the Review Requirement.
- The modal prefills the Type = Review and Status = Internal Review and Other Requirements. This type of requirement will generate a task and email to the approver. In addition, the Status indicates where in the list of statuses in Workflow & History table the requirement will be added.
- While not required, you can enter a description as the Requirement label prefix (e.g., IDC approval). This text will appear as part of the requirement in the Workflow & History.
- In the User field, begin typing in the name or NetID of the person to provide the review and approval.
- Click Save to create your Review Requirement.
- Note that the new requirement is added to the Internal Review and Other Requirement status in the Workflow & History table and the Completion State is Not Ready to Start.
- Requirements added before Proposal Release (status New Proposal Record Created): If the requirement was added before releasing the administrative portions of the proposal for review (or full proposal), the requirement will change to Ready to Start, generate a Task and send an email to the Approver at the time the proposal is released for review.
- Requirements added after Proposal Release (status of Internal Review and Other Requirements): However, if the requirement was added after the proposal was released for review, you’ll need to Refresh the Workflow & History panel to change the Completion State to Ready to Start, have the system generate the Task and send the email to the Approver. Refresh the panel by clicking the circular arrows in the upper right-hand corner of the panel.
- You can add as many requirements as are necessary for your proposal’s review.
